Barry Playground is located in South Philadelphia and is a 2,700 square foot building which includes a pool, playground, and field spaces. In 2015, the building underwent a major renovation, which transformed the building into a high-performance public amenity. Several sustainability improvements were made including full-site stormwater infrastructure to capture roof rainwater and site run-off.
NTM performed site visits, developed three landscape stormwater concepts, dimensions and costing, met with city partners, revised concepts into the preferred option, and met with the recreation leader on site to discuss the design.
Barry Playground is the first Philadelphia Parks and Recreation building to achieve LEED certification, achieving LEED Gold in 2010.
