NTM Engineering, Inc. (NTM) is proud to announce that Ms. Emily Bernzott Emm, MS, PE is a recipient of the 2020 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Young Professional of the Year. The ACEC Young Professional of the Year Award recognizes accomplishments of young engineers who already have made significant contributions to the industry despite being in the early stages of their careers. The 2020 recipients will be honored at the ACEC’s Fall Conference.
Emily earned her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and holds a Professional Engineering license in Pennsylvania. Emily has over eight years’ experience at NTM performing hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) design and waterway permitting and has also assisted with technical course instruction at NTM’s training facility.
“Emily is an excellent example of a young, enthusiastic, talented, and outgoing engineer. Emily’s technical background is outstanding and she is working on leading edge projects, but her leadership skills and commitment to continually working to expand opportunities for women in the transportation industry through professional development and mentoring is exceptional,” stated Donna Newell, MS, PE, CFM, President.
Emily is the H&H engineer on several major infrastructure projects across the state, including the US 422 West Shore Bypass Reconstruction and the Schuylkill Banks Christian to Crescent project in Philadelphia. Additionally, Emily is the lead engineer on NTM’s H&H Work on the FHWA Pilot Study for the Site-Specific Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analyses for Assessing Transportation Infrastructure Vulnerability and Resilient Design for Bridges in Pennsylvania. Emily also has experience with 2-Dimensional hydraulic modeling using TUFLOW and PCSWMM. Emily is the current President of the Central PA Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) and was awarded WTS Central PA Member of the Year in 2017.
