The official ground breaking ceremony for the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation Project (CSVT) was held May 20, 2016. Attended by NTM President Donna Newell, the ceremony celebrated the completion of a transportation project in the works in Pennsylvania since 1959. With the passage of Act 89 in 2008, funding was provided to finally restart the project. NTM was responsible for the hydraulic modeling and scour analysis for a new bridge crossing over the West Branch Susquehanna River.
Divided into northern and southern sections, today’s ground breaking celebrated the beginning of construction on the northern section’s river bridge project. When completed in 2020, the bridge will be more than 4,500 feet long with a peak elevation of 180 feet. The southern section is in final design and the entire project is expected to be completed in 2024. NTM is also providing H&H and stormwater services for the southern section.
Engineering News-Record named PennDOT its MidAtlantic Owner of the Year, for CSVT and its $900-million Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, which is using non-traditional finance and delivery methods to replace 558 bridges in the state by 2017.
