NTM Project Engineer, Robert Guyer, MS, PE, CBSI, was part of a volunteer design team to design and construct three footbridges at Colyer Lake. Located in Centre County, Colyer Lake is a 77-acre impoundment owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and managed by the Fish and Boat Commission for public fishing and boating. The Colyer Lake Trail is a scenic, 2.6 mile trail that loops around the dam in Sinking Creek and the perimeter of the lake.
After heavy rain events, the crossings near the stream can be hard to maneuver with slippery conditions. With support from NTM, Bob was part of the structural design of the three bridges to replace the two stream boulder crossings that were non-ADA compliant. The third bridge will be constructed in order to avoid having to route the trail onto Lake Road.
Congratulations to Bob and the team of volunteers that were able to take this project to fruition! With their expertise, Colyer Lake is more inclusive, and the beautiful views can now be enjoyed safely by a larger group of the public.
