Description of Work:
This is a professional position which involves a mix of field and office work. The Specialist must have experience specializing in study and survey of the Bog Turtle (Glyptemys muhlenbergii) and other Federally and State of Pennsylvania listed species. The applicant will be responsible for conducting Phase 1 Bog Turtle Habitat Assessments and Phase 2 & 3 Surveys. Will also be responsible for habitat assessments for other threatened and endangered reptiles and amphibians. Additional responsibilities may include technical activities related to natural resource investigations, including, wetland delineations, stream surveys, and mitigation.
Minimum Training and Experience Required:
Qualified candidates must have a BS in Wildlife Biology or related degree and be recognized as a Qualified Bog Turtle Surveyor by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). Individual must have five to ten years of experience specializing in the study and survey of the Bog Turtle. Candidates must be familiar with standard sampling methods and recognized survey protocols established by the PFBC and US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Must have experience with Microsoft Office Products. A valid driver’s license is required.
