NTM was in attendance for the ribbon cutting of the Northern Section of the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation (CSVT) Project held Wednesday, June 29, 2022. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Southern Section was also held.
The project involves approximately 13 miles of a new four-lane limited access highway that was implemented to ease a major traffic bottleneck through portions of Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties. The project is separated into the northern and southern sections for design and construction. Although the project officially began in December of 2015, the project has been in the works since the corridor study of Route 15 was completed in 1959.
The CSVT River bridge spans 4,545 feet over the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. It’s PennDOT’s 8th longest bridge, with 15 spans, 60- to 80-foot-high piers, and 10-foot-high steel beams.
NTM was involved with the 2D hydraulic model for this section and was also responsible for the scour analysis and provided the hydraulic analysis for the FEMA CLOMR. NTM is also part of the Southern Section final design and construction services.
