Congratulations to NTM Engineer Tracey Olexa, MS, PE, CPSS, PWS for being selected as a recipient of the 2020 American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) Excellence in Advocacy Award! Tracey was one of three Excellence in Advocacy award recipients chosen and will be promoting “soils as infrastructure.”
“Our Congressional leaders understand the necessity of protecting the nation’s infrastructure. Bridges, water treatment facilities, and pipelines are appreciated as fundamental to nation’s health and economy. Soils should be given equal consideration. Soils are a vital part of the nation’s infrastructure and should thus be at the forefront of funding and policy initiatives,” said Tracey.
Tracey will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in advocacy training and the 2020 Congressional Visits Day (CVD) and on March 2-3, 2020. The Congressional Visits Day is an annual event which brings graduate students and scientists to Capitol Hill to raise awareness and support for science and research funding. It exposes constituent scientists to the federal budget and appropriations process, while helping them develop relationships with members of their congressional delegation.
Congratulations Tracey!
